The town of Cameron quickly grew into a shipping point for area farmers because of the railroad. Cameron is also known as the “Dewberry” Capital of the World. The dewberry is a milder version of the blackberry with a superior flavor. Cameron is also known as an antique center and the village is filled with Antique and Collectible shops. The first Saturday in May and the first Saturday in October the streets are jammed with vendors as 10,000 people descend on the town for the Antique and Collectibles Fair.
